Whether you’ve been training as a boxer, or are trying something new to get into better shape- conditioning is VERY important! One way to improve your conditioning is to focus on cardiovascular exercises. If you're looking to improve your conditioning to enhance your performance, there are some specific exercises that are simple that we would recommend!
Conditioning focuses on the most important muscle you have: your heart! Incorporating periods of high-intensity cardio (or HIIT) can improve your boxing strength AND conditioning routine drastically. Working harder a little more each time strengthens your heart and allows you to push even further the next time you’re in class (and these benefits will help even when you’re not exercising!)
One of the tried-and-true exercises to increase your endurance is jumping-rope! Simple and effective in creating stability, mobility and stamina. Similarly, running (especially outdoors) can be very beneficial. With different terrain and incline/declines this allows more of a challenge for your muscles more so than a flat surface as a treadmill would offer. Adding periods of high exertion alongside slowing your heart rate down on a consistent basis over the span of your workout helps build a stronger heart which in turn will increase your endurance and stamina which can ultimately help your overall performance.
Just like anything you do- this takes practice and will help your progress over time.
